The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced the evacuation of 153 refugees and asylum seekers from Libya to the Emergency Transit Center in Niger.

The UNHCR clarified in a statement on Friday that the evacuation process included citizens from Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and Southern Sudan which included 16 families, and 15 children beneath the age of 18.

It confirmed that this trip comes following a seven-month suspension, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which led to the stoppage of humanitarian flights since last March.
