The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Libya has expressed concern about the recent airstrikes which were just “meters away” from a migrant's shelter in Zawiya city.

"Recent airstrikes just a few meters away from a detention centre in Zawiya were nearly 500 refugees and migrants are held is of great concern, and all means need to be put in place to avoid a tragedy like the one in Tajoura from happening," the UNHCR said in a statement Sunday.

It also expressed its unease over the escalation of conflict in Libya renewing its call to protect civilians, including refugees and migrants.
