The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced the rescue of 1930 refugees and migrants from the Mediterranean from the beginning of January up until February 10 of this year alone.

It confirmed the return of this high number of migrants to Libya and further confirmed in a statement on Saturday that there has been a substantial increase in the number of landings since the start of February, reaching in excess of 1,400 migrants returned to land.

It added that this very significant number could possibly be attributed to the unusually warm weather presently in Libya, stressing the need to continue implementing resettlement operations.
