The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has decided to allocate $ 3.2 million -provided by the European Union- to aid the city of Ghat, which was hit by severe floods last month.

"Through these funds and within the recovery and resilience project implemented in partnership with UNICEF and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation; it would be on hand to provide assistance to the municipality of Ghat," UNDP said in a statement.

The aid is aimed at ensuring the relief of flood-affected citizens, in addition, to enable them to access health services, food, safe drinking water, and environmental sanitation, according to UNDP.
