The UN Security Council (UNSC) will hold a briefing on the developments in the situation in Libya, on Friday, October 21, followed by consultations on the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The Council is also expected to vote on a resolution renewing the mission’s mandate, which expires on 31 October, in accordance with resolution 2647, according to the Security Council Report website.

This will be the first session after the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, assumed his duties from Libya and met with the political actors to lay a consensual path towards holding the elections.
