The United Nations Security Council approved on Thursday a resolution submitted by Britain and Northern Ireland to extend the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) until January 31 of next year.

The draft resolution demands UNSMIL to promote an inclusive political process, security, and economic dialogue, and to help consolidate the arrangements made by the Libyan government with regard to governance, security, and economic affairs while providing appropriate support to implement the ceasefire agreement.
