The UN Security Council condemned the military escalation in Tripoli and the south of Libya recently, stressing that the solution of the Libyan crisis is not a military one.

The Council issued a statement on Friday evening, during which it called on all Libyan parties to exercise restraint and to support a national reconciliation.

The Council also stressed the need to open an urgent investigation into the latest events and bring all perpetrators of criminal and terrorist acts throughout Libya to justice.
