Spokesman of the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric called on parties to conflict in Libya to refrain from using explosive weapons, such as aerial and artillery bombardment in densely populated areas.

Dujarric explained in a press conference that such explosive weapons continue to cause civilian casualties, confirming the killing of at least six civilians and the injury of five others in an air raid in Qaser Bin Ghashir area last Tuesday.

He also reminded conflicting parties of their obligations under international humanitarian law and demanded all measures to be taken, in order to avoid the targeting of civilians.
