The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Libya, Georgette Gagnon, said the Libyan 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) is preparing a plan for withdraw foreign forces and mercenaries.

Gagnon said in a meeting on the effect of the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya at the Security Council that the 5+5 JMC will further discuss the plan for the gradual withdrawal and disarming.

She called on the Security Council to specify Libya stakeholders, including Chad and Sudan which should assist the withdrawal process to avoid instability in Libya and neighboring countries, adding that sanctions on countries violating Security Council resolutions on Libya and threats to sanction Libyans who help the mercenaries stay in the country could be a possible solution for the problem of the higly-paid foreign fighters.
