Deputy Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya Maria Ribeiro, said Saturday that supporting the efforts to organize and conduct future elections of Libya is a key goal to the UN.
During her visit to the new HQ of the High National Election Commission in Tripoli, Ribeiro emphasized the UN commitment to support national and international efforts to stabilize Libya and strengthen its democratic institutions.
She explained via the UN's Twitter account that supporting the Electoral Commission will be through the fund "To Promote Elections For The Sons of Libya", which will be administered by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and supported by the UN Mission over the next 3 years.
