Spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric has said that the UN is anxious to see a new envoy at the head of its mission in Libya and is doing its utmost in this regard.
UN head spokesman expressed concern that the sudden resignation of the former Lebanese envoy, Ghassan Salame would create a vacuum in the UN mission.
In a press conference, he explained challenges in Libya are still present due to the continuous fighting that harmed even hospitals and schools.
Dujarric called on all parties to abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. He also urged them not to use explosive weapons in populated areas, given their potential random effects.
