The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) confirmed, that more than half a million people in Libya need assistance with regard to mine-related problems.

UNMAS added that 61% of returnees from Tripoli had recorded the existence of war remnants, which is a source of real concern for them.

It said that, along with its partners, they are conducting a non-technical survey, raising awareness of risks and disposing of remnants of war to protect civilians and facilitate the safe return of citizens to their homes.
