The UN mission confirmed that it would continue consultations with all members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) who were unable to participate in the Thursday meeting to elicit their views on the most suitable and consensual method to move forward with agreeing on a selection mechanism for the executive authority.

The mission said in a statement on Friday that it would then move to the next step in implementing the road map, while Acting UN envoy Stephanie Williams expressed her gratitude for the "constructive discussions" despite the divergence of views.

Williams emphasized the need to move forward as expressed in the road map saying the Libyans "should seize this opportunity" to achieve tangible progress and bring back hope to the Libyan people in the political process.
