Director of Human Rights and Transitional Justice of the UN Mission Antonia De Meo stressed the need to enforce respect for human rights in Libyan prisons.

This came during a seminar held by the mission with 18 senior judges, prosecutors and judicial police officers from all regions of Libya in order to apply the principles of the rule of law in prisons and to strengthen the judicial police.

Discussions focused on accelerating the vetting of detainees' files and transferring the authorities of prisons to the judicial police.
