UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, revealed that he had initiated a dialogue with the World Bank and the Security Council's Libya sanctions committee in order to determine a mechanism for the management of Libyan frozen assets abroad, based on a UN resolution issued by the UN Security Council 2011.

Salama pointed out at a roundtable meeting with a small group of researchers and journalists in the Egyptian capital that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya is seeking to reach a binding agreement for the Libyans in preparation for legislative and presidential elections by September 20, 2018, after achieving national reconciliation and adopting a permanent constitution for the country.
