The UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, has confirmed that the call for holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya came with the desire of the international community to strengthen legitimacy and that the four parties that met in Paris agreed with this.

Salame’s statement came during a speech at a new round of national dialogue tours in the city of Tobruk, where he also called on all parties to work with the UN mission to alleviate foreign interference in Libyan affairs.

Salame reiterated the importance of the cooperation of local authorities in reducing the number of problems experienced by the country, especially in the areas of illegal immigration and the smuggling of goods and fuel.
