A UN delegation comprised of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs visited Benghazi to assess the situation on the ground.

The UN delegation attended a meeting on mine action organized in Benghazi by civil society organizations, and met with a delegation of military engineers, the National Safety Authority, the Forensic Police and the Libyan Mine Action Centre.

The city of Benghazi suffers from the remnants of unexploded ordnance and mines planted in areas of clashes since May 2014.
