The Chinese ambassador to the United Nations, Chen Xu, has said that negative interventions are aggravating the situation in Libya.

This came during his meeting with Libya's permanent representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, in New York, on Wednesday.

The Chinese official emphasized his country's keenness to support Libya towards stability and the track of political solutions, insisting that the military approach would not provide a solution to the Libyan crisis.

For his part, Al-Sunni briefed the Chinese ambassador on the evolving situation on the ground. They also looked into the implications of Haftar's aggression on Tripoli and its suburbs and the ongoing violations committed, despite the international endeavors to restore calm.
