The Tunisian Prime Minister, Hicham El Mechichi said on Saturday that given the nature of the historical, humanitarian and economic relationship between Tunisia and Libya, it is not possible to close the Ras Ajdir border crossing again.

El-Mechichi stated In a press statement after his visit to the Ras Ajdir border crossing, that the Tunisian government worked on the necessity to reopen the crossing to facilitate the movement of commercial traffic.

He also added that “all necessary precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus were taken before the opening of the Ras Ajdir and Wazen border crossings”.

It is noteworthy that, the Ras Ajdir and Wazen border crossings with Tunisia were reopened after 8 months of closure due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
