The Tunisian authorities have expelled senior figure of the former regime and head of the political office of the so-called "People's Movement for Liberating Libya" Mustafa Zaidi and prevented him from entering its territory.

The Tunisian authorities informed Al-Zaidi of their desire not to enter Tunisian territory immediately after arriving at Tunis-Carthage airport to participate in the preparations for the UN-backed National Conference.

Tunisian sources said that the Tunisian authorities expelled al-Zaidi because his presence would cause confusion and even the failure of the conference after important actors in the Libyan scene warned they would not attend the conference if Zaidi was among the participants.
