The Tunisian authorities have decided to ship back a consignment of military hardware to Russia, which was destined for the commander of the so-called Dignity Operation Khalifa Hafter after months of retention in the port of Sfax city in Tunisia, the London-based Middle East Monitor website reported.

The website quoted unnamed security sources as saying that the operating company of the ship had pledged to pay the cost of the reshipment of equipment to Russia, which prompted Tunisia to agree to this request.

The Tunisian authorities took custody last February of a ship flying the Panamanian flag that turned out to be a front for an arms shipment carrying 24 containers of military equipment, in addition to 66 military transport vehicles coming from Russia and was on its way to Libya.
