The commander of the operations of the Infantry Battalion 301, Mohammed Bushaala, confirmed the closure of the road linking Tripoli and Wirshiffana on Saturday.

Bushaala stated that the closure came as a result of an attack by an armed group from Wirshiffana on Saturday morning, which killed two members of the battalion.

He added that the armed groups, which associate themselves with the so called Wirshiffana armed forces, are responsible for armed robberies and car hijackings, indicating that the battalion has been subjected to several attacks from the same group recently.

The region where this incident took place is experiencing heightened security tensions as military reinforcements pour in from all over Libya, some believe that the truce between the Battalion 301 and the so-called Tribal Army has collapsed and the region could witness a new war at any moment.
