The National Commission of the Tripolitania Region has announced its total rejection of the unilateral issuance of a law to elect the Libyan Head of State by the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqailah Saleh, describing his act as fraud.

In a statement addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the head of the United Nations Support Mission (UNSMIL), and the head of the High Election Commission (HNEC), the commission considered the law issued by Saleh as a violation of the provisions of the constitutional declaration.

It went on to clarify that the law also directly violates the provisions of the internal rules and regulations of the HoR, adding that the High Council of State (HCS) was in no way consulted in the approval of the draft, as stipulated in the political agreement, making it not only invalid but also illegal.
