Clashes between the tribes of Al-Maqaraha and Mashashiya over ownership of lands in Abuqila area, south of Libya, have ceased since Saturday.

The head of Mashashiya Shura and Elders’ Council Taher Dhaou told The Libya Observer that efforts are being made by the dignitaries and elders of the area to maintain calm in the region until the case is settled by law.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya has expressed deep concern over the confrontations, calling on all parties to exercise restraint and stop the escalation.

The tribal fighting has left some people dead and wounded.
