Traffic accidents in June have claimed the lives of 166 people and left 200 others seriously wounded, according to statistics released by the Interior Ministry on Sunday.

The statistics recorded in the traffic departments across the country revealed that the material damage cost, caused by car accidents in June amounted to 1.94 million Libyan Dinars.

"Traffic accidents in Libya have risen in the past years because of disrespect for traffic rules and speeding violations, especially among young people, in addition to the growing phenomenon of importing non-conforming vehicles into Libya," the ministry stated.
