The US Chargé d’Affaires in Libya, Stephanie Williams, has welcomed the Libyan dialogue to break the political stalemate, stressing that the United States supports Libya as a unified, prosperous and secure state.

In a statement released after her meeting with Deputy Chairman of Presidential Council Ahmed Mietieq and Misrata members of parliament and High Council of State, Williams called for an immediate cessation of violence and the withdrawal of forces from oil installations without condition before further damage occurs.

She added in her statement that the United States is deeply concerned with Haftar`s presence at the oil fields and the handover of oil facilities to a parallel institution not affiliated with the internationally recognized government.

“The United States believes these vital Libyan resources must remain under the exclusive control of the legitimate National Oil Corporation and the sole oversight of the Government of National Accord.” She stated.
