Sources at Tobruk Airport confirmed the closure of the airport to civilian traffic due to the employees' strike over the resignation of the airport's manager Hassan Halil Monday.

The sources added that the staff refused to go back to work until the airport's manager changes his mind and withdraws his resignation.

Halil announced his resignation in a statement addressed to the President of Al-Bayda Transport Authority, the President of Tripoli's Airports Authority, the President of Al-Bayda Airports Authority and the Mayor of Tobruk Municipality, attributing his resignation to the lack of the logistical support and the erosion of the runway.

For his part, Mayor of Tobruk Naji Maziq refused the resignation and urged Halil to return to work.
