The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) stated that criminals have stolen high and low voltage electrical wires with a length of 1,700meters from an area known as ‘Bir Al-Alim’ in Tajoura, east Tripoli.

The company said in a statement on Sunday that the thieves also stole 1,000 meters of wires from the same line in the Industrial District Distribution Department.

Electrical cables were also stolen at a distance of 750 meters from distribution circuits of Al-Swani, according to the GEOCL.

The company stressed the necessity to put an end to these thefts, which threaten the sustainability of energy supply for industry and citizens alike.
