The Union of Teachers of the eastern region has decided to go on strike as from October 15 until their demands are met.

In a statement on Thursday, the Union said that schools will be disrupted in all Libyan municipalities starting from the scheduled date to press demands on adopting a law to improve the teachers' salaries and for the protection of teachers and the educational workers.

It’s not known whether the eastern strike would affect the western and southern regions of the country.

In Tripoli, the Ministry of Education said Thursday that classes will start as scheduled on October 15 and end on July 2018.
