Tarabulsia Commission said that Libyans and the whole world were surprised by the attack launched by a rebel force coming from the east to occupy Tripoli and overthrow the civil government system, with a view to imposing a dictatorial regime on Libyans.

"The Government of National Accord (GNA) should reassess its strategy with respect to countering Haftar's forces, the commission emphasized in a statement Sunday, considering that safeguarding peace does not come by seeking elusive consensus with a brutal force that does not understand the meaning of peace.

It also demanded the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to cancel the UN-backed National Conference, saying there can be no negotiations at gunpoint.

Tarabulsia Commission is a group of civil society institutions in the capital advocating for peace and peaceful transfer of power.
