The Information Office of the High Council of Sufism in Libya confirmed that the coordinator of the Sufi school in Tobruk city, Hussein Al-Saghir was subjected to a failed assassination attempt.

The council explained in a statement that the Sufi cleric was stabbed by what it described a hard-liner, just outside the mosque, disclosing that the offender admitted that the motive behind his act was his hatred to Sufism and because he considers them polytheists and apostates.

The Council pointed the finger at the extremist Salafi-Madkhali group, which currently have a stronghold on the eastern region, urging security services to provide protection to its residents.
