Strong winds brought down four power towers that transmit electricity to Tawergha city, causing a local blackout on Sunday.

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) ensured consumers through its Facebook page that the maintenance teams in the Central Region Distribution Department have immediately commenced work to secure power from alternative sources, noting that the crew stayed up late at night to restore power to the area.

Maintenance teams from Misrata will join in to help install the towers back in their positions and get them back into service, the GECOL explained.
