The Mine Clearance Unit of Sirte Protection Force said that they have managed to transfer a number of dangerous unexploded shells from an inhabited area in the city to detonate them later in an appropriate region.

The force confirmed that the area where the shells were found is now safe and has been completely cleared from all explosive remnants.

The Mine Clearance Unite had received a communication concerning the presence of shells that might constitute a threat to the population of the city.

The city of Sirte is still suffering from unexploded mines and remnants of war laid by the extremists' militias of ISIS, before their defeat in late 2016.
