The Municipal Council of Souq al-Jum'aa called on the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, to activate the Security Council resolution on the protection of civilians in Libya immediately.
The Municipal Council warned in a letter addressed to the UN envoy that armed groups are sweeping towards the capital from everywhere to extend their influence in the capital and project their power on the country's resources, praising the efforts of the UN representative, which led to the establishment of a truce and a cease-fire.
The Municipal Council reiterated its demand to take all necessary measures to stop the fighting, remove all armed groups from Tripoli and punish anyone who seeks to hinder the reform process, be they individuals or institutions.
