Foreign Minister Mohammad Siyala has called for effective international measures to prohibit the insult of all religions and their symbols.

Siyala's remarks came during a speech at the 47th session of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in the Nigerian capital, Niamey, between 27-28 November, according to a statement by Libya's Foreign Ministry.

Libya's foreign minister strongly condemned the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him in France, emphasizing that such an act has nothing to do with freedom of expression.

He also called on the block to support efforts to end the political division in the country and reaffirmed Libya's support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to build their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
