The Commander of the Sirte-Al-Jufra Operations Room, Ibrahim Bait Al-Mal, along with a number of his aides, held a meeting on June 14, with the British Ambassador to Libya, Nicholas Hopton, and the military attaché of the British Embassy in Libya, Colonel Mark Baffin, in Misrata.

According to a statement by the Operations Room, both the military and political developments in the country were discussed, most notably the presence of armed groups and their expansion from Sirte to Al-Jufra, in addition to the opening of the coastal road in the Sirte region, linking the east and west of the country.

The statement added that Hopton affirmed his country’s position in support of military and political stability in Libya and the continuation of international efforts towards the withdrawal of foreign forces, led by the Russian Wagner group, along with the need for them and others to return back to where they came from, according to the statement.
