The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced the onset of maintenance work in the first turbine of Ruwais gas-fired power station.

GECOL said that a convoy of trucks set off from Tripoli seaport packed with equipment and new parts, heading to the Ruwais station in order to conduct a massive overhaul of the first turbine.

The company explained that this move came following the initiation of a ‘contract agreement’ with the German company Siemens, which covers carrying out long-term maintenance of generation units.

GECOL stated that this comes as part of its efforts to improve the network, in order to meet the upcoming summer peak loads of electricity expected.
