Mayor of Al-Sharqiyah Municipality south-west of Libya, Immhimed Al-Araby said that negotiations are still on with the kidnappers of the three local dignitaries, who demanded one and a half million LYD for their release.

In a press statement, Al-Araby explained that so far they have succeeded to bring down the ransom to 100 thousand LYD for each person, reducing the total amount to 300 thousand LYD.

Three of Al-Sharqiyah dignitaries were kidnapped from the area of Tamsa on 26 November by armed gangs, likely to be affiliated to the Chadian opposition groups.
