Shahhat Security Directorate in east Libya has declared a state of high alert to deter what it called “sabotage acts” by “vandals”.

The media office of the directorate said on Facebook that their forces will hit with an iron fist those who try to undermine security in the town.

It disclosed that a number of people are planning to go on protests in many areas of the town, without specifying their demands.

“The protests would be exploited by vandals to ransack government institutions,” it remarked.
