A source from Al-Ahli Tripoli football club confirmed that the club's management had reached a preliminary agreement with the Serbian coach, Branko Smiljanić, to manage the club as a successor to the previous coach, Egyptian Talaat Youssef.

The source added that the agreement is nearly finalized with the Serbian coach, noting that there were some minor details regarding the contract, which would see Smiljanić lead the club in the quarterfinals and the rest of the Libyan Football League matches.

Smiljanić is famous in Libya after a successful period with Al-Ahli Tripoli`s main rival Al-Ittihad FC, when he led the club to two consecutive league wins and the semifinals of the African Champions League in 2007.
