Commander of the joint operations of the Italian Defence Staff, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, is visiting Libya's Misrata, the Italian Nova news agency has reported.

According to the same source, an Italian military force participating in Operation Hippocrates will remain in the city besides 200 soldiers, medical personnel, and the mobile training team (MTT), which consists of two components and health trainers.

 Their objective is to protect the military field hospital and provide care to the Italian soldiers in Libya, according to Nova.

The agency indicated that this comes after the Italian Ministry of Defence issued recently orders to repatriate some of the medical staff, as well as part of its equipment in Misrata, following an agreement with the Libyan authorities.
