Security Service of Ben Gardane district in Tunisia said that they have managed to thwart a smuggling operation of hard currency from Tunisia to Libya on Saturday, according to the Tunisian news agency.

The amount was seized from a car carrying Libyan travellers and was estimated to be at 370,000 euros and about 200,000 dollars.

"After receiving information about a suspicious vehicle travelling on the road linking Ben Gardane and the crossing border of Dahiba the security services conducted an ambush, where the car was searched and the money was found in the fuel tank," the Directorate General of the Tunisian Customs said.
