The Security Room of Sabratha confirmed in a statement on Friday its responsibility for the disappearance of the former head of Sabratha Military Council Taher Al-Gharabli, accusing the latter of involvement in "criminal offences" as described.

The room said that Al-Gharabli was referred to the military prison in Sorman for being an officer in the Libyan army after coordination with the Directorate of Security Sabratha, adding that Al-Gharabli is being treated in accordance with the law and was not subjected to any violations or ill-treatment.

The family of Al-Gharabli announced his abduction Thursday from the eastern entrance to the city of Sabratha while driving his daughter to school, only a week after his return to the city.
