The security authorities in Ajilat city, western Libya, have seized 6 trucks loaded with livestock in an attempt to smuggle them to Tunisia, the Information Office of the Municipality of Al-Ajilat confirmed.

The office said that all smugglers were of Libyan nationalities, pointing out that the cargo came from the cities of Zliten, Ajilat, and Sabratha.

The sheep market in Libya has witnessed an unprecedented spike in prices for several reasons, most notably the smuggling of livestock to neighbouring countries, especially Tunisia and Egypt.
