Foreign Minister, Mohamed Sayala called on Friday, the UN Security Council President, Gustavo Meza-Cuadra to assume greater responsibility towards the ongoing aggression on Tripoli.

In a letter addressed to the council's presidency, Sayala said that the escalation by Haftar's militias and the shelling of civilian facilities, including airports, field hospitals, and others, is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law.

"While the Security Council seeks to stop the war on Tripoli, the forces of Haftar continue to target civilian facilities supported by foreign countries," Sayala added.
