The head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, Ghassan Salame, said that security conditions in the capital Tripoli have improved after the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Zawiyah last September and the withdrawal of armed groups from some locations in the capital.

Salame's statement came during a meeting with members of the Municipal Council, MPs, and dignitaries of Tarhuna city, where the participants discussed the new security arrangements in the capital Tripoli and the United Nations action plan in Libya, including the UN-backed National Conference and elections.

"Since the ceasefire agreement, Tripoli's security has improved, security officials have been changed, the cabinet reshuffled, and new security arrangements are being implemented. Things don’t change overnight but we see progress." Salame said.
