The UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame said that he will work with Libyan and Lebanese authorities during the next period on a memorandum of understanding between Libya and Lebanon on the issue of the disappearance of the Shi'a scholar "Al-Sadr"

The Libyan news agency quoted him as saying in a meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala that his work in Libya is in his capacity as representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and not as a Lebanese citizen.

Salame expressed his understanding and regret at Libya's decision not to participate in the economic summit in Lebanon, saying that he hoped for this issue to be addressed, officially away from any influences and pressure.

At the same time, he voiced his endorsement for the right of the Lebanese to know the fate of "Mousa al-Sadr."
