The UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame called Saturday for Libyans to see reason and not remain prisoners of what he described as the "rancour of the past".

"The hour of truth and choice has come. Either you restore to reason and instinct, or remain prisoners of hatred of the past, or build together a brighter future for your children", Salame tweeted.

The UN envoy's call came after the meeting held last week in Abu Dhabi, which brought together Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj and head of the so-called Dignity Operation, Khalifa Hafter.
