Russia is concerned about the rejection of "prominent personalities" from the preliminary list of presidential elections' candidates, including Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi.

The spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said the disqualification was a concerning discrimination, adding that Gaddafi's son is popular as per the polls, according to Sputnik.

She said Moscow always calls for equal opportunity to all political and public parties to engage in the electoral process.
