The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, has confirmed that his country will reopen its embassy in Libya; however it would presently work from Tunisia and be led by the Charge d’Affairs, Jamshit Boltiev.

This came during his meeting with the Speaker of Libya’s eastern parliament, Aqailah Saleh in Moscow on Friday.

Lavrov explained that the work of the Russian ambassador from Tunisia would be temporary and that his duty would be to represent Russia on all Libyan territory.

He said that his country supports the immediate cease-fire in Libya and the re-launching of the Libyan-Libyan dialogue, adding that the Cairo declaration could possibly form the basis for talks, as he put it.
